Palgrave
Brown was formed in 1998, when the existing
management team acquired three timber
manufacturing divisions from the Meyer
Group and combined them to form Palgrave
Brown.
Although
Palgrave Brown as an entity is relatively
young – and indeed has the dynamism
of a young, growing business – its heritage
and expertise spans well over 100 years,
with a depth of knowledge and understanding
of building and timber products, combining
the best of both worlds.
The introduction
of the Palgrave Brown name was a strategic
decision, designed to enable the company
to secure a strong, single and recognisable
national brand identity. This was important
from the outset as the directors led
the company into a period of rapid organic
and acquisitive growth to complete the
establishment a national network of
sites to deliver a ‘one stop shop’ service
and supply of high performance timber
products.
From just
11 sites and sales of £25million in
1998, the company has expanded to a
network of 18 sites, nearly 900 dedicated
employees and sales on course for £66million
– offering the widest choice of timber
products available in the UK from a
single source.
